John P. Sullivan, Jr. concentrates his practice on intellectual property issues related to new technologies, brand development and strategy, and Internet presence, including the growth and enforcement of brands on social media and in online marketplaces. He handles a full spectrum of matters involving trademarks, trade dress, product configuration, unfair competition, trade secrets, copyrights, false advertising, and Internet-related intellectual property issues. Additionally, Mr. Sullivan represents clients in intellectual property litigation matters in both state and federal courts, as well as before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board and in UDRP proceedings.
Mr. Sullivan has extensive experience drafting and negotiating software development and license agreements, and creating comprehensive online brand management and trademark/copyright enforcement programs for Fortune 500 clients.
During law school, Mr. Sullivan served as the symposium editor for the Villanova Environmental Law Journal.
Mr. Sullivan is often called upon to write and lecture on trademark issues. He is published in numerous publications, including The World Trademark Review, The Legal Intelligencer, and Law360, and is a frequently presents for Philly Tech Week.
COMMUNITY SERVICE & AFFILIATIONS
Mr. Sullivan is an active member of the Philadelphia Intellectual Property Law Association, formerly serving as a Board of Governors member, and having previously served as chair of the Trademark Law Committee from 2013 to 2015.
He serves as chair of the Young Lawyers Section of the Brehon Law Society, as well as treasurer of its board, and also serves as an Internet Committee member with the International Trademark Association.
Additionally, Mr. Sullivan is an active volunteer for Philadelphia Lawyers for the Arts, and a mentors emerging technology and start-up companies through Blackstone LaunchPad.
