Sean Huang concentrates his practice on intellectual property matters, with a particular emphasis on patent prosecution, applications, and office actions.
With a focus on power electronics, embedded control hardware and software, electronic circuits, and power systems, Dr. Huang brings a combination of technical expertise, first-hand business know-how, and legal experience to his clients.
Prior to joining Blank Rome, he worked as an electrical engineer with GE Global Research and ExxonMobil for 11 years. His work spanned from R&D to commercial products development and applications. He was responsible for the research and development of power conversion systems for a number of industrial applications, including industrial automation, energy storage, hybrid vehicles, locomotives, aviation, and subsea. He was directly involved in front-end design and detailed engineering, including converter topology design, thermal analysis, data acquisition, microcontroller systems, and prototype fabrication and testing. His work was transferred to different business units for new products introduction. He also led commercial development of electrical facilities for large capital, offshore, and artic oil & gas projects.
Dr. Huang is a registered patent agent and previously worked on patent prosecutions for large and startup companies. He is an inventor of several patents/patent applications and has authored a high volume of journal and conference papers. He earned his Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology, and is a current J.D. candidate at the University of Houston Law Center. He is an IEEE senior member.
