John Shire practices in the business department of Blank Rome LLP and concentrates his practice in transactional healthcare.  He represents clients in the areas of:

  • healthcare transactions, including mergers and acquisitions

  • health information compliance and technology contracts

Mr. Shire has co-authored "How Government and Industry Pharma Compliance Guidance Impacts Attorney Advice For All Health Care Clients" Health Lawyers News, vol. 7 no. 8 (August 2003).  In addition, he has contributed as an author and researcher for two major healthcare resources, The Guide to Medical Privacy and HIPAA, published by Thompson Publishing Group in 2002 and The Health Laws of Pennsylvania, published by PBI Press in 2000.

REPRESENTATIVE MATTERS

  • Serves as healthcare regulatory counsel to retail-based healthcare delivery company
  • Provided healthcare counseling for commercial finance subsidiary of an investment bank as the administrative agent and lead lender, in connection with a syndicated revolving credit and mortgage term loan facility to finance the acquisition of various skilled nursing facilities, assisted living facilities, and apartment complexes located in Louisiana
  • Supervised a more than $100 million private equity investment and recapitalization of a large-scale radiology practice management company and affiliated physician group
  • Supervised the formation of a Pennsylvania-based acute-care surgical hospital
  • Negotiated and executed a physician practice acquisition from a regional hospital system
  • Formed physician-hospital joint venture for pain management services
  • Formed diagnostic imaging network in northeastern Pennsylvania
