Elaine Solomon is the co-chair of Blank Rome's aviation practice.  She concentrates her practice in the areas of aviation law and litigation, product liability and tort litigation.  Ms. Solomon also has a background in labor and employment law. She has represented airlines, airports, product manufacturers, and general aviation clients in a vast array of matters for over 20 years.  Her experience includes:

  • negligence and product liability suits arising out of accidents involving aircraft, helicopters, ground services and equipment, jet bridges, baggage conveyor systems and airline/airport facilities
  • litigation involving aircraft engines, component parts, aviation products/equipment and avionics
  • personal injury, breach of contract and construction claims arising out of airport construction projects
  • product liability/tort claims for various aviation industry manufacturers
  • hull, property damage, contribution/indemnity, subrogation and insurance coverage opinions and disputes
  • overhead bin litigation
  • collisions of ground equipment and/or vehicles on airport grounds
  • air rage and denied boarding claims
  • food poisoning claims
  • airport/airline/TSA security issues
  • airline/vendor contracts and claims
  • disruptive passenger and/or intoxicated passenger issues
  • TSA employee injury claims against airlines
  • airline bankruptcy claims and agreements for insured claims

Ms. Solomon also has a background in labor/employment law and litigation, including:

  • airline/skycap tipping cases
  • union representation issues, unfair labor practice charges, and union grievances
  • flight crew and employee labor and employment issues

Ms. Solomon recently presented at the American Conference Institute’s 6th Annual Forum on Defending and Managing Aviation Claims & Litigation on May 20, 2014, where she gave a presentation titled “The Present and Future Landscape of Drone Usage, Regulation, Integration and Litigation.” She also spoke at the SMU Air Law Symposium on April 3, 2014 and hosted a lecture session titled  “Drones: The Good, the Bad, and What About the Ethics.”



Ms. Solomon is a member of the Tort and Insurance Practice Section and the Aviation & Space Law Committee of the American Bar Association.  Ms. Solomon is also a member of the International Aviation Women's Association.  She is also a commissioner and coach for Upper Dublin Intramural Soccer.
